Schema version 2 fields
These fields are on every crawler JSONL margin record and on each national household object in monthly/report-data.json. Nested state and district arrays in that JSON file keep the compact row layout. New fields follow margin_owner_paid_off in JSONL. The full field list is on the data schema page.

- “A” for urban consumer households; “B” for Social Security statutory households.
- index_basis
- “CPI-U” or “CPI-W”.
- index_basis_reason
- Statutory or demographic authority for the index assignment.
- headline_rate_12m
- Twelve-month inflation percentage of the assigned index.
- headline_rate_index
- Name of the index providing the headline rate.
- base_months
- Number of published months in the base expenditure period.
- income_vintage
- Survey source and years for household income.
- edition
- Build stamp of the engine run that produced the figures.
- method_version
- Methodology release version (“2026.09”).
- schema_version
- Data schema integer (2).
License and limits
TrueCOLA report text and computed figures are licensed Creative Commons Zero (CC0 1.0). Zillow rent data remains subject to Zillow terms and is labeled wherever it appears.
The Senior couple 65+ row uses Census household income for householders 65 and older, scaled to two-or-more-person senior households (ACS 5-year 2024 and PUMS). The Two Social Security row uses the Social Security Administration published aged-couple average benefit. Neither row doubles a one-person figure.
Every public copy of the August 2026 data derives from workbook 81b672f1; copies that disagree are stale.
